Sincerely, Mayla
by Virginia Smith
Have you ever had one of those times when everything started falling apart? Have you ever wanted to just run away from home? Even for a few days? That’s Mayla’s life. In one short week her life came crashing down around her. She lost her job, messed up any chance of a relationship with her pastor, a friend won’t talk to her, and the younger sister of a friend who died of AIDS calls up and wants a place to stay. Mayla decides that since she’s no longer employed she could use this time to go visit her grandmother. She hasn’t seen her in years because of a major conflict between her grandmother and her mother. She knows her grandmother isn’t doing well and wants to take advantage of this time to go see her.
But…life is never that simple. As Mayla tries to run away from her problems, they find her! One by one they encroach on her vacation. And as she has to deal with each one she comes to realize that the Lord is the only one who can offer true help in every time of need.
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Mayla and her family. I’m hoping that Ms. Smith will decide to write another book to continue the story.
I highly recommend it.
