INTERVIEW | Lyn Cote

IMG_1677femail Lyn, describe yourself for our visitors.

I’m a writer of inspirational romance, romantic suspense and historical sagas. I’m grandmother age without any grandchildren–though I do have 2 gran-kitties and 1 gran-puppy! My favorite charity is Compassion International which makes it possible to support individual children and help them progress out of poverty.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?

My favorite authors are Francine Rivers and Georgette Heyer and many others too numerous to name.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

I started writing when my daughter was 13 months old and I sold my first book when she was about to enter high school. So I was an Overnight Success! Of course this was in the days before the Internet was available to all. I had a hard time finding the information I needed. I always try to help other authors so I keep a page on my website: "Christian Book Publishers" with "So you want to be published?" If I’d had this info, it wouldn’t have taken me so long–I hope!

desiresofgerheartREV Tell us about your current book.

My February book is THE DESIRES OF HER HEART, the title is taken from Psalm 37. "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give you the desires of thine heart."

This book is the first in my TEXAS STAR OF DESTINY series, which covers the beginning of American history in Texas 1821-1847.

In 1821, Dorritt Mott is a woman ahead of her time. When her family is forced to leave New Orleans, she meets Quinn. The New Orleans lady and the half-breed scout, become unlikely allies on the trek to the Austin settlement in Texas. Two armies, marauding Comanche and a traitor in their midst stand between them and their destination. All Dorritt thinks she wants is her own independence, but is it possible that she will gain the unrecognized desires of her heart? And teach Quinn to enlarge his vision also?

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

I always set my historical sagas in a location that is experiencing a lot of change and culture clashes. These all a fruitful sources of conflict which is the basis of any good story. And in the years 1821-1847, Texas experienced the Mexican takeover from Spain, the Texas Revolution and the Mexican-American War. I learned a great deal I never knew about Texas and Mexican history and was amazed by the way God blessed Texas throughout these conflicts.

List your three most recent books.

My three most recent books are Carly (final in Women of Ivy Manor), Dangerous Secrets (Love Inspired Suspense) and Her Captain’s Heart (Love Inspired Historical, 1st in Gabriel Sisters series 12-09).

What’s next for you?

I’ve finished writing the Texas series and have just written the second of my Gabriel Sisters series for Love Inspired Historical and am writing the third and final book. Then I have a new Love Inspired contemporary series titled, "Living in Hope" which will debut in 2010.

Where can visitors find you online?
