Pride and Pestilence
A Maxie Mouse Mystery
by Mary Connealy
Another late night at the museum and Bonnie, the curator, finds her world literally crashing around her as a car crashes through the walls, a dead man is found and the museum collapses..All the beginning of a intriguing romantic mystery. Beige Bonnie, always left behind, while her brothers went off to college, left behind in love, finds herself in the middle of a mystery and in the middle of falling in love with a man with gorgeous dimples.
Maxie Mouse, the town’s mascot and the town’s claim to fame, is at risk, due to a crazy dead man’s will and Bonnie and Joe (gorgeous dimples) are also at risk, with a crazed man hiding in the secret passages in the hideous house Joe inherited.
Family dynamics between Bonnie and her brothers also are a great part of this book, Bonnie raised her brothers after her parents died, and has helped them become young men of faith and integrity.
Set in a small town Pride and Pestilence is a glimpse into small town dynamics, Ms Connealy perfectly captured the sense of rural small town America with this story, a town proud of its mascot, a town filled with people who loved the town, wanting to see it grow and support it’s citizens.
This book was a wonderful story, highly enjoyable, easy to read and very much a book to pass along and recommend to your friends, I give this book a 4 star rating. 248 pages. 6.95 US
